Our October Newsletter

October 2017 Newsletter

Gary & Cherry Warrick / Cru Communique

Summer is past, and a new school year of Cru on high school and middle school campuses is in full swing!

Sharing a collection of photos from four of our seven Cru Omaha campuses where students are gathering for another school year - choosing to grow in their faith in the midst of their studies and other school activities.
Students from Omaha Central High School gathered at our home for their kick-off in August. It was an impactful evening as the students (representing five countries of origin) came together for food, fun and games, and to hear our guest speaker from India (left in photo) share her very intense story of coming to trust in Jesus while still in India.
PLEASE PRAY for these Cru students who meet together weekly after school on Thursdays as a school club on their campus.
Accelere Alternative School students gather together on Fridays over their lunch hour where we offer them a free lunch, and an opportunity to interact, share their stories, and hear about how Jesus can make a difference in their lives.
PLEASE PRAY for these courageous students who are returning at ages 18-21 to earn needed credits for their high school diplomas that they missed out on earlier.
Twenty-five students attended the first Cru weekly meeting of the new school year at Omaha South High. Here a student who came to know Christ at our Cru Summer Conference in The Rockies is eagerly sharing his story.
PLEASE PRAY for a fruitful year for the South student leaders who play a big part in leading the after-school club on their campus each Thursday.
Cru Fort Calhoun High students kicked off the school year in the Nebraska countryside with a hayride and line dancing. They meet each Monday in the evening at a students' home.
PLEASE PRAY for Jake, and volunteer Abbie, as they disciple and coach several student leaders who play a big role in leading their peers each week.

Family Snapshots ...

Photo on left: A special day last month when our three daughters (who live nearby) and their families came over to celebrate September birthdays! It's always a treat for Cherry to share the same birthday month with daughter Carrie. Carrie & Tyler live in Omaha, along with their two children, Cruz (8 years old), and Eva (5 years old). Always a blessing to spend time together with family!

Photo on right: Our oldest granddaughter, Abigail, was recently engaged on August 26, to Addison Zody! Addison and Abigail are both seniors at DBU (Dallas Baptist University), and plan to be married in the spring of 2018. We were so blessed to meet Addison when he came up with our TX family (Cristy & Mark, and their four children), last Christmas, and we couldn't be happier about this big news!
Thank you
for your prayers and financial support
as another school year has started up!

We are also thanking God
for the amazing gift of having
Jake on as full-time staff,
and for the 25 volunteers
who are also a huge part of reaching students
through Cru Omaha!

Fall 2017: Updates and Changes

A new name, and an updated purpose!

Fall 2017 This blog has been silent for over a year, and now we are entering back into posting!

Welcome to our "new" online home ...
an online location where we will post our "Cru Communique Newsletter", and stay in touch with friends and family as we serve through Cru. Our newsletter is titled "Cru Communique", and this blog will be called the same. These are all avenues for us to communicate what God is doing through Cru Omaha.  This blog is also a place where you are welcomed to comment or ask questions at any time. You are also invited to visit us here for other ministry and family news that we may post periodically.

Thanks so much ...
for your interest as we serve together as Cru staff - you are an encouragement to us!
